Hampi Travel Guide (2026): 2–3 Day Itinerary, Budget, Stay & Best Time to Visit
Hampi was not a sudden decision.
It began as a casual conversation with friends, planning, discussing dates, imagining a group trip. But as time passed, leaves didn’t align, personal commitments came up, and slowly the plan faded away.
Except for one thing. My desire to visit Hampi stayed.
That week was special for another reason, it was my birthday week, and I was already planning to take office leaves. Instead of waiting for the “perfect group plan,” I chose something different.
I chose to travel solo.
This journey start with Hampi became my first long solo trip to South India, and it turned into one of the most meaningful travel experiences of my life.
In this complete Hampi travel guide, I’ll share a detailed 2–3 day itinerary, budget breakdown, best time to visit, where to stay, and must-see places including Virupaksha Temple and Vittala Temple and many more.
Why To Choose Hampi?
Hampi had been on my travel list for a long time not just as a destination, but as an experience to the past of one of the greatest Empire.
Once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, Hampi today is a vast open-air museum filled with:
- Ancient temples
- Majestic stone ruins
- Riverside landscapes
- Quiet village life
- Architecture Magic
What attracted me most was the slowness of Hampi, a place where you walk, observe, and absorb history at your own pace. For a solo traveler, this freedom is priceless.
There is slightly difference between the solo or with group or with family to explore the places.
Hampi is also:
- UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Budget-friendly for solo and group travelers
- Safe and welcoming
- Perfect for history lovers and photographers
- And perfect for who wants spend good time with ourselves or with our loved once🫶.

Best Time to Visit?
October to February is the perfect time to visit Hampi as the weather is comfortable for sightseeing, exploring the ruins, and trekking to sunrise points like Matanga Hill and Anjanadri Hill.
During these months, the temperature stays pleasant, and you can walk around the open rocky landscapes without feeling exhausted. Early mornings and evenings are especially beautiful and ideal for photography.
Avoid visiting in summer (March to May) because the temperature becomes extremely high, sometimes crossing 40°C. Since Hampi has a lot of open areas and rocky terrain, the heat feels even more intense and tiring.
Monsoon season (June to September) brings greenery, but it can make the rocks slippery and difficult to climb. Sightseeing may become uncomfortable due to sudden rains and muddy paths. If you plan trekking or exploring ruins properly, winter is definitely the best choice.
