That week was special for another reason, it was my birthday week, and I was already planning to take office leaves. Instead of waiting for the “perfect group plan,” I chose something different.

The nearest railway station is Hospet Junction. From Hospet, Hampi is about 13 km away and easily reachable by:

Best Time to Visit?
October to February is the perfect time to visit Hampi as the weather is comfortable for sightseeing, exploring the ruins, and trekking to sunrise points like Matanga Hill and Anjanadri Hill.
During these months, the temperature stays pleasant, and you can walk around the open rocky landscapes without feeling exhausted. Early mornings and evenings are especially beautiful and ideal for photography.
Avoid visiting in summer (March to May) because the temperature becomes extremely high, sometimes crossing 40°C. Since Hampi has a lot of open areas and rocky terrain, the heat feels even more intense and tiring.
Monsoon season (June to September) brings greenery, but it can make the rocks slippery and difficult to climb. Sightseeing may become uncomfortable due to sudden rains and muddy paths. If you plan trekking or exploring ruins properly, winter is definitely the best choice.
